Managed by Serge Calvez who had trained as cabinet maker, the shipyard Marée Haute was initially dedicated to creation and production of personalized furniture.
While commercializing its first range of lamps, Serge decided to build up a 6.50 m prototype in strip-planking, based on plans of Pierre Rolland.
The hull still in production, Serge and Pierre started thinking of the launching of a new serial mini. A marked study was conducted based on the project of a wooden boat. Unthinkable at that time would be the construction of a “plastic boat” by a cabinet maker. However, the cost and the manufacturing time of such a 6.50 m strip planking boat are not adapted to a marked requesting fairly low prices and quick rate of production.
The marketing of this new 6.50 mini will be announced at the Paris boat show of 2003. A week later, 7 firm orders are signed ! The first Dingo is born in June 2004 and the boat gets its serial classification in August 2005.
2006. The 6.50 Yaka is presented at the Grand Pavois show in La Rochelle where it is elected 3d boat of the year.
2007-2008. New things to be discovered at Marée Haute:
